BC School Curriculum and the Environment

British Columbia has recently instituted a curriculum that deals with reform in the public education system. One thing of note was further emphasis on environmental sciences within the classroom. Even though the school system needs many changes in my opinion, having an outlook on environmentalism is perfect. Teaching young students about their environmental impact will make them into environmentally-conscious adults, which will create a new generation of environmentalists, which we need on this planet. Also, allowing students to dictate their passions towards an area that they want will hopefully a generation of young, motivated learners. Hopefully this is implemented correctly!

What is at stake for the coming election?

This is not only an election that is the longest in Canadian history, but also an election that could make an impact on many environmental issues in Canada. The NDP, the Liberals, the Greens and the Conservatives have created platforms that target on ways to solve environmental issues, climate change, and promoting the green economy. But, these policies are just focused on the macro level, what needs to be discussed is the micro environmental issues, such as the policies on Kinder Morgan, the issue with coal ports in BC, and also how each party will promote the idea of creating an economy in BC that is less focused on fossil fuels, and more focused on sustainable and green business. This is what is at stake here. Can we trust one of these parties to fix issues that local activists fight for in BC, such as an economy that works in conjunction with the environment?

The upcoming Federal Election

The Federal election is coming up, and with so many issues at the forefront, it will be a very interesting election. Eternal will remain non-partisan throughout this election, but we recommend that when making your vote, to look at each political parties platform (including their environmental platforms as well). We may outline the environmental and green economic policies of each political leader though. This is a very important election in Canadian history, and we recommend that you do your research before making your vote!

Green Bonds for a Greener Planet

I was doing some research in my spare time on green bonds, and how they can really help the planet. I came across this great article by Scott M. Stringer and the Huffington Post, which really describes how green bonds can work in New York City. I believe it can relate to how green bonds can also help British Columbia and the environment within this province as well. I recommend you check it out here.

Electrafest 2015

We recently went to Electrafest 2015, where we learned quite a bit about the electric car industry, as well as other modes of transportation requiring an electric design. We had a great time and met some great people as well. Check out some pictures below of the event!
